This flat bread will be sure to get your mouth watering. This light and fluffy flatbread goes with well Anna's Healthy Herb Dip and the perfect appetizer or healthy snack.
Makes 4 flatbreads
- 1 cup warm water (about 110 F)
- 2 tsp instant dry yeast
- 2 ¼ cups bread flour
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 ½ tsp coarse salt
- Place the water and yeast into a large bowl and then add 2 cups of the flour, olive oil and salt. Stir this with a wooden spoon until the dough just comes together and then turn the dough out onto a work surface and knead, adding the remaining ¼ cup of flour as you do, until the dough is smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Return the dough to the bowl, wrap with plastic, and let rest for an hour.
- Once risen, urn the dough out and divide into 4 pieces. Roll the dough pieces out on a floured surface just like pizza dough, 6 to 8 inches across.
- Heat a cast iron skillet or other heavy-bottomed pan on high heat. Cook each flatbread for about 90 seconds on each side (do not add oil to the pan), until the bread blisters and the blisters brown.
Serve the flatbreads warm. They can be brushed with garlic butter, herb butter or topped as you wish.
